
Kota Kinabalu: The 2024 State-level Warriors’ Day celebration at the Sabah Police Contingent’s Dataran Kawad drew approximately 7,000 attendees from the city and nearby areas on Wednesday.
The event commenced with a procession of 25 parade contingents comprising enforcement agencies, government bodies and students.
Police, army, navy and Rela bands accompanied the march-past parade.
The ceremony included the raising of the Jalur Gemilang and Sabah Flag, followed by the national and state anthems.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor arrived at 7.48am and received a salute from the police guard of honour. He was joined by Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah and Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun.
Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin arrived at 8am, received a Royal Salute and inspected the guard of honour. Both Juhar and Hajiji then toured the State-level Warriors’ Day exhibition.
The event featured performances by the army, a police veterans’ parade and presentations to families of security personnel killed during the Kg Tanduo intrusion in Lahad Datu.
A joint performance by police, navy, army and Rela also captivated visitors.
Among notable attendees were Deputy Chief Ministers, the Speaker, Ministers and the State Secretary.
A poignant 25-minute re-enactment of the 2013 Tanduo incident, titled “Epilogue of Warriors’ Tears on Sabah’s Soil,” was performed by police officers and civilians.
Juhar met with two General Operations Force members involved in the incident and families of those killed in “Op Daulat”.
He was accompanied by Hajiji, Sabin, Jauteh and Sabah Brigade Commander Datuk Abdul Rani Alias.
