Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded 7,448 job placements as of Sept 27, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor
He said these were the result of the Government’s efforts through the Social Security Organisation (Socso) and various agencies to enhance the employability of Sabahans.
He added that many challenges remain, including improving the quality of training and ensuring that the skills provided align with industry needs.
“I urge for strategic collaboration to continue between the Government, educational institutions and the private sector to expand job opportunities and provide more relevant training for the people of the State,” he said when launching the 2024 Sabah Socso Myfuturejobs Mega Madani Career Carnival at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Saturday.

He noted that the Sabah Jobs Portal (SJP), under the management of the Human Resource Development Department (JPSM), and the Myfuturejobs (MFJ) portal introduced by Socso will be merged to ensure they can provide a more efficient job search service for Sabahans.
“I hope the Myfuturejobs and Sabah Job Portal systems can be realised as soon as possible for the benefit of the people of Sabah.
“This integration will make it easier for job seekers to obtain the latest information and assist employers in finding suitable talents.
“With this platform, we hope to reduce unemployment and improve the employability of Sabahans,” he said.
Hajiji said the State Government is now on the right track through the Human Capital Development Blueprint for Sabah (2021-2035) to ensure that the knowledge, skills and expertise of youth, along with human capital, remain relevant while also serving as a guideline for holistic human capital development programmes in the State.
He added that the State Government will continue to implement employability and skills training programmes, including TVET, relevant to current industry needs and upgrade facilities and training aids at training institutes under both State and Federal Government agencies.
He said implementing various initiatives under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Development Plan is now beginning to show positive results, with economic growth increasing and people’s well-being improving.
“As a strategic step forward, the State Government fully supports the proposal to establish the first international-standard Socso Rehabilitation Centre in Borneo, and we hope it will be implemented soon,” he said.
Hajiji also wants the Socso-organised Career Carnival to be expanded to other cities and small towns, as it provides excellent benefits to the people.
“Organising such carnivals can also create an efficient labour market ecosystem and offer the best opportunities for job seekers in Sabah,” he said.
