MANILA, Philippines — Seven Philippine-listed companies were included in Forbes' 2026 Global 2000 ranking of the world's largest public companies, highlighting the continued presence of the country's biggest conglomerates, banks and utilities on the global corporate stage.
The annual list ranks publicly traded firms worldwide using a composite measure of revenue, profit, assets and market value.
Leading the Philippine contingent was SM Investments Corp. (SMIC), which ranked 811th globally, followed by BDO Unibank Inc. at 846th, Top Frontier Investment Holdings Inc. at 1,116th, Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. at 1,317th, Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) at 1,530th, Ayala Corp. at 1,644th, and International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) at 1,702nd.
SMIC remained the highest-ranked Philippine company on the list, supported by its diversified portfolio spanning retail, banking and property development.
"We are pleased to be recognized anew as the country's top company on the Forbes Global 2000 list. This reflects the trust of our customers and investors, the work of our people, and the strength of the businesses we have built over the years." SM Investments President and Chief Executive Officer Frederic C. DyBuncio said.
:"We continue to invest in the Philippines because we believe in the country's future and long-term growth," he added.
According to Forbes data, SM Investments posted revenue of $10.56 billion, profit of $1.44 billion, assets of $29.37 billion and a market value of $18.67 billion.
The rankings also underscored the prominence of the Philippine banking sector, with BDO and Metrobank securing spots on the list, alongside conglomerates and infrastructure-related companies.
Forbes said the Global 2000 is based on four equally weighted metrics — sales, profits, assets and market capitalization — and is considered one of the most closely watched rankings of publicly listed companies worldwide.
The United States accounted for the largest number of companies on the list, followed by China and Japan.
