PETALING JAYA: Terengganu police have recorded 70 rape and incest cases from January to September, the same number as the corresponding period last year.
State police chief Khairi Khairudin said 60 of the cases involved rape and 10 were incest, with most victims being minors.
The youngest was a six-year-old girl, allegedly assaulted by her 14-year-old cousin.
He said social media influence was a major factor, with many cases starting from online interactions between teenagers.
Khairi urged parents to be more vigilant in monitoring their children to prevent them from becoming victims or perpetrators.
