Freak accidents often happen when the victim never expects to see it coming, and it usually results in painful or sometimes fatal injuries.
An elderly man lost his life after his body was crushed by the weight of an iron gate which fell on him yesterday (Mar 24).

According to the Chinese daily China Press, the incident took place at a galvanized wire factory in Tanah Merah, Kelantan at around 3pm.
The 70-year-old unnamed victim, was later revealed to be the owner of the factory.
Tanah Merah district police chief Superintendent Mohd Haki Hasbullah said the victim was checking the iron gate when its pulley suddenly flew off, causing it to fall on top of him and crushed him with its weight.
“Police were alerted of the incident at 3.30pm and immediately sent a team to investigate. However, the victim had already passed away.
“Due to the iron gate falling on the victim, he sustained injuries all over his body and died on the spot,” he said.
Mohd Haki added the victim’s body was sent to the Tanah Merah Hospital for a post-mortem, where the autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was a “crushing head injury”.
No foul play was found in the case and it has been classified as sudden death (SDR) by police.
