An elderly woman reportedly fell to her death at an apartment located on Jalan Perak, Penang at around 11am today.
Although it has not been confirmed by the authorities, some sources told China Press that the victim became depressed after enduring years of sickness.

Had breakfast before fall
The Chinese daily reported that the 71-year-old victim lived alone on the 16th floor and was visited by her son every day.
According to sources, the victim suffered from multiple illnesses due to old age and recently complained of frequent headaches and a constant heaviness in her head.
They also said she went to a coffee shop located downstairs to have breakfast before returning home and allegedly falling from her unit 15 minutes later.
A hole was left on a zinc awning after the victim’s body fell right on top of it, while a light fixture attached to the awning was also damaged.

No criminal elements found
Police were contacted after residents heard the loud crash and saw the victim’s body on the ground.
After completing preliminary investigations, police sent the victim’s body to the Penang Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
No criminal elements were found so far and the case has been classified as sudden death.
