The Army Cadet College (ACC) Wing of the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, marked its annual graduation ceremony on June 6, with 73 cadets being awarded degrees on culmination of their three-year academic and military training programme. They will now proceed for their pre-commission training at the IMA.

Lt Gen Nagendra Singh, Commandant, Indian Military Academy, conferred the bachelor’s degree by the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi to 32 cadets of the science stream and 42 cadets of the humanities stream from the 127th course of ACC.

The Army Cadet College is a training institute of the Indian Army, which acts as a feeder institute to the IMA. The ACC takes in specially selected soldiers from the rank and file who show promising abilities and grooms them to become officers.

The training curriculum at ACC is made to ensure holistic development of cadets physically, mentally and intellectually. Every cadet undergoes a graduation programme augmented with rigorous military training to imbibe traits required by them to become commissioned officers in the Indian Army.

In his convocation address, Lt Gen Nagendra Singh, congratulated the cadets for successfully completing the rigorous training and crossing an important milestone in their professional career. He emphasised that character, self-discipline, courage, motivation, positive attitude and professional competence are pillars of a successful Army officer.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gold Medal was awarded to Wing Cadet Captain Naveen, COAS Silver Medal to Company Cadet Captain Avnish Kumar Mishra and the COAS Bronze Medal to Wing Cadet Quarter Master Harshraj.

The Commandant’s Silver Medals for standing first in service subjects was awarded to Company Quarter Master Sergeant Amanpreet Singh, for first in humanities to Company Cadet Captain Avnish Kumar Mishra and to first in science stream to Wing Cadet Captain Naveen.

The Commandant’s Banner was presented to Nubra Company for being the Champion Company. The banner is awarded to the company which excels in various competitions like sports, physical training, camps, debates, interior economy, weapon training, academics and service subjects.
