Juventus had a bumper offer for Ivan Rakitic turned down by Barcelona in the final days of the summer market.
Juve chief Fabio Paratici was in Barcelona last week for transfer talks over several players.
Mundo Deportivo says Paratici made a serious attempt for Rakitic.
The offer tabled was 23m cash plus midfielder Federico Bernardeschi in exchange for the Croatia playmaker. But it fell short of Barca's valuation.
However, knowing Rakitic remains unsettled, Paratici plans to try again in January.
