7UP tries to appeal to younger customers with new flavor

  • Soda brand 7UP has launched a limited-edition Shirley Temple flavor that mixes cherry and pomegranate with citrus soda, available across the United States through December 31.
  • Parent company Keurig Dr Pepper developed the nostalgic beverage to appeal to Millennial and Gen Z consumers seeking classic flavors and citrus-forward drink options.
  • The new product follows a recent brand overhaul for 7UP that made its soda recipe more lime-forward after company research revealed 72 percent of younger consumers prefer citrus flavors.
  • While 7UP ranks as the sixth most popular soda brand in the U.S. overall, it currently holds only a 1 percent share of the lemon-lime market compared to Sprite's 9 percent.
  • The flavor launch comes as Keurig Dr Pepper reported a 10 percent increase in U.S. beverage sales, standing in contrast to declining sales reported by competitors like Pepsi.
