PETALING JAYA: An eight-month-old girl has died after being left in a car for about 10 hours at a hospital parking lot by her mother.
Cheras district police chief Zam Halim Jamaluddin said early investigations found that the child was put into her mother’s car yesterday at 7.20am to be sent to the nursery.
“However, the woman drove her car straight to work under the presumption that her infant daughter had been sent to the nursery already,” he said in a statement.
Zam Halim said the woman only realised that the child had been left in her car since morning after her husband informed her that their daughter was absent from the nursery.

The infant, who was already unconscious, was later pronounced dead.
Zam Halim said the case has been classified as “sudden death” and further investigations are being done, under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect.
