A district administration team led by Jagadhri SDM Vishwanath seized eight vehicles involved in illegal mining and transportation of minerals.
The team also issued challans worth Rs 3.47 lakh to the violators.
Jagadhri SDM said, following instructions from DC Preeti, they have launched a special drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals.
He said he inspected the Jagadhri area on Sunday and checked several vehicles to curb illegal transportation of minerals.
“During the checking drive, eight vehicles involved in illegal mining and mineral transportation were seized. Besides, challans totalling Rs 3.47 lakh were issued for overloading and other traffic violations,” the SDM said.
He said information regarding the illegal mining cases has been sent to Mines and Geology Department for further action.
“Considering the possibility of GST evasion, the GST department has also been informed for necessary action,” the SDM said.
He added that the district administration is continuously taking strict action against illegal mining, mineral transportation violations, and overloading.
“Such campaigns will continue and strict legal action will be taken against violators. The objective of the district administration is to eliminate illegal mining and transportation activities, increase government revenue, and prevent damage to the ecosystem,” the SDM said.
