PUTRAJAYA – The Home Ministry has approved 80% of the 3,903 citizenship applications for those under the age of 21 as of March 7.

Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the rest were rejected due to incomplete applications and failed security screening.

“We have processed the completed applications. They will be notified by the National Registration Department (NRD) on what to do next.

“They have to come to the NRD and make a payment. They will then be issued with a citizenship certificate and other personal documents,” he said at a press conference at the ministry here today.

Earlier, he handed over citizenship letters to 35 children born overseas to Malaysian mothers. – March 19, 2024
