
RANAU: The body of an elderly woman who had been missing since Monday was found stuck in a tree branch in the river of Kampung Tampios, here, on Thursday.
Minggui Belinting, 80, was found at 7.21am by villagers who informed the authorities.
Ranau District Police Chief, DSP Simiun Lomudin said the victim lived alone in Kampung Tinanom and was last seen when she left the house to get vegetables at 10am. She asked her grandson who lives near her house to hang her clothes on the clothesline.
When the victim did not return home the next morning, her grandson and the villagers looked for her but were unsuccessful.

Simiun said the search and rescue (SAR) operation was then activated at 8 am the following day in the area of the incident.
Meanwhile, Head of BBP Ranau PPgB Ridwan Bin Mohd Taib said the victim was found dead and stuck on a tree branch in Kg Tinanom Ranau about 74 km from the Ranau fire station.
