
A voter turnout of 80. 96 per cent was recorded in various development blocks of Mandi district during the second phase of the panchayati raj elections on Thursday. Polling concluded peacefully in 196 gram panchayats of the district, with voters participating in the democratic exercise enthusiastically. According to official information, Sundernagar block registered the highest voter turnout of 83.37 per cent, followed by Churag block (82.77 per cent), Karsog block (82.69 per cent), Nihri block (81.4 per cent), Gopalpur block (75.05 per cent), Dharampur block (73.12 per cent), Chauntra block (71.36 per cent).
District officials said that polling was peaceful and smooth throughout the day in most parts of the district. The election staff and security personnel were deployed extensively to ensure free and fair elections in rural areas. They added that the final voting figures of a few blocks were still awaited and the overall turnout percentage in the district would be updated later.
Women, elderly and first-time voters participated enthusiastically. Officials thanked voters and the polling teams for their cooperation in conducting a peaceful election process.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan said that 80.96 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the district
