LAHAD DATU: Some 82 senior and junior police officers completed their Basic Sea Combat, Basic Diving and Sniper/Sharp Shooter Firearm Handling Courses conducted at Pantai Tanjung Payang.

The courses were jointly provided by the Sabah General Operations Force (GOF) and Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department.

The closing ceremony was graced by Internal Security and Public Order Director Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali.

The training, he said, was not only for Sabah GOF, but for GOFs across Malaysia including units in the Internal Security and Public Order Department.

“The training focuses on naval combat with the goal of further enhancing Sabah’s security, particularly along its east coast,” he said.

According to Hazani, the purpose of the courses was to increase participants’ effectiveness and provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary to handle any operations or raids that may occur in the field.

According to him, the training would improve the participants’ sense of camaraderie and add value to the operations and raids that will be conducted.

Earlier, Hazani had the chance to see a demonstration of amphibious battle by the participants.
