SANDAKAN: Some 835 participants from 14 states took part in the Urban Economic Empowerment Programme (PEKB) implemented by the Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT) this year.

KPKT Community Welfare Division Secretary, Mohamad Yusri Hashim, said participants were given courses and training in areas that can generate income such as manufacturing of biscuits, noodles and frozen food and carried out on a small scale.

“Through PEKB, we hope they will be able to generate RM600 or more per month from the sales after gaining knowledge from the course and with the help of equipment given to them,” he said.
