84.34% final turn-out of voters in first BARMM election — Comelec

MANILA, Philippines — The final voter turnout for the historic first Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections reached 84.34%, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia confirmed late Tuesday night.

“Final Turn-out of voters for the First BPE - 84.34%,” Garcia said in a message as of 11:14 p.m. on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in Maluso, the Municipal Board of Canvassers (MBOC) has completed the canvass of votes from all 68 precincts in the municipality, Garcia said.

“The Maluso MBOC had just finished the canvass of the 68 precincts (36 + 32 = 68),” Garcia said.

The completion of the municipal canvass clears the way for the immediate transmission of Maluso's Certificate of Canvass (COC) to the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) of Basilan.

“Transmission of the COC of Maluso to the PBOC of Basilan will immediately proceed,” Garcia said.

The completion marks a significant turnaround for Maluso, which was previously placed under Comelec control after tampered ballots were discovered in 36 precincts. To resolve the issue, the poll body ordered the reprinting of affected ballots and extended voting hours to make up for delays.
