Pakatan’s supporters were actually expecting – not hoping – for Anwar to realize a vision for this country - one where every ordinary rakyat is politically aware and their voices are respected.

To a lot of ordinary Malaysians, not only those who supported Pakatan, the country today is largely confined to election days, and as soon as people cast their ballots, it becomes a game of cards for politicians, many of whom are ready to break campaign promises and betray the people’s trust.

Instead of handling people’s trust with care, most of the politicians have a nonchalant attitude towards it.

Yes, it is a constant and long struggle for it and the path to success is riddled with obstacles.

But does Anwar or for that matter, any politician, be it from PH or the Madani government or PN that has the leadership to make it happen?

Its political manoeuvres, fiercely condemned by the PN supporters, who themselves are not any different, appears to be a betrayal of voters’ trust.

Anwar and his party and the coalition he led had come a long way and their supporters cannot help feeling excited by how far it can go.

Now that he finally achieved his objective i.e become the Prime Minister of this country, he must bring about the change in the country that he has been promising for the last 20+ years.

That should and would be his final goal.

Fighting corruption was consistently mentioned to the extent that on the campaign trail for the elections in the 6 states, he constantly called for those who have stole from the public to return the money to the country and the people or the sledgehammer will come down hard on them.

If those people had really stolen from the people, one does not need to threaten them.

Recovery actions should have started from the start when Anwar was appointed the Prime Minister, not 9 months after he was appointed and then warned them of the consequences.

Is it because there is no hard evidence that could stand in the courts of law or the authorities only started gathering the evidence?

Even though the ordinary rakyat hopes that was not the case, as this government was formed with the people’s interest at heart, the Madani government appears to be crafted around one man's political ambitions.

Again even though it is not a government that was voted by the ordinary rakyat, it is still accountable to the ordinary rakyat.

Anwar and the coalition he led in the government now must push for progressive laws that truly serve the ordinary rakyat and not tyranny of the minority.
