PONTIAN: Lee Biscuits Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian biscuit brand established in 1934, is expected to cease production at its Pontian factory by the end of October.
The closure was reportedly linked to a business restructuring by its parent group, according to media reports.
Suppliers and customers had reportedly begun receiving notices about the production halt last month, while the factory was said to be in the process of laying off its employees.
Pekan Nanas assemblyman Tan Eng Meng confirmed receiving news of the impending closure when contacted by China Press, as reported by SAYS.
Lee Biscuits was founded by Tan Sri Lee Kong Chian and is known for products including Marie biscuits, saltine crackers, banana puffs and iced gem biscuits.
