93-year-old woman among seven Brits killed in Spanish wildfires

  • Seven British nationals have been confirmed among the 13 fatalities in the devastating wildfires in southern Spain, as announced by the Guardia Civil in Almeria.
  • The total death toll from the fires includes three Belgian people, an American, a French national, and a Spanish national, in addition to the British victims.
  • Among the British dead was a 93-year-old woman who passed away on Sunday after being hospitalised on Friday with burns covering about 20 per cent of her body.
  • The bodies of four other British victims were discovered inside a burnt-out car, contributing to the confirmed fatalities from the widespread blazes.
  • Two British hikers were found alive but badly burned, suffering 40 per cent burns, after being discovered by Civil Guard officers who returned to an area they had previously searched.
