TAWAU: Ninety-four undocumented Indonesian migrants were deported to Nunukan, North Kalimantan, from the Papar Immigration Depot via the Tawau Ferry Terminal on Thursday.

Sabah Immigration Director Datuk Sh Sitti Saleha Habib Yussof said the group, aged between one and 57, travelled home aboard the Labuan Express passenger ferry after completing their legal sentences.

She said the deportees comprised 53 men, 23 women, 11 boys, and seven girls, all accompanied by their parents or guardians, and were issued with temporary travel certificates by the Indonesian Consulate.

This latest batch brings the total number of Indonesians repatriated from Sabah to 1,847 so far this year, contributing to 9,059 foreigners expelled overall under the state’s immigration enforcement programme.

Sitti Saleha reminded employers to register their foreign workers under Sabah’s ongoing digital documentation drive, warning that those found harbouring undocumented migrants risk fines of up to RM50,000, imprisonment, or even caning under the Immigration Act.
