Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has declared interest in Bayern Munich job.

Niko Kovac was axed by the German champions on Monday two days after their 5-1 Bundesliga loss at Eintracht Frankfurt.

And Wenger, 70, wants to bring an end to his own 18-month exile from coaching.

Wenger is fluent in German and when asked if he was keen on taking over Bayern, he revealed: Of course.

I was coaching at a top level from the ages of 33 to 69 without interruption. And at a top level. So of course, yes."

He added: Coaching was my whole life and everybody who has done it will tell you the same.

You miss the intensity some things you miss a lot, some things you don't miss.

But winning games, preparing the team, plus getting satisfaction and shared emotions.

It's 36 years without stopping. Even if I miss it, to get out of that pressure was not too bad for me.

People who know me well say I'm more relaxed and it's true."
