The Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone has a successor in the form of the Mate Xs it's essentially the same device with an updated chipset and build design.
The foldable display sits on what Huawei calls the Falcon Wing Hinge when folded, the phone measures at six inches; it then unfolds into an 8-inch tablet. Like the original Mate X, the camera setup is placed on the far edge of the back panel, and when folded, you can take a selfie using one half of the display as a viewfinder.
The body is made of zirconium-based metal which Huawei claims is 30% harder than the usual titanium alloy.
For imaging, the Mate Xs is equipped with a 40MP main lens, a 16MP ultra-wide angle shooter, 8MP telephoto lens, and a 3D depth sensor. The phone is capable of 45x zoom and is equipped with AIS and OIS.
Under the hood is a Kirin 990 5G chipset along with 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. The phone, of course, supports 5G connectivity and includes bands such as N1, N3, N28, N38, N41, N77m N78 and N79. It's powered by a 4,500mAh battery which supports up to 55W superfast charging.
The phone ships with Android 10 layered with EMUI 10.01. In terms of features, the New multi-window feature lets you drag and drop, from a side bar, different apps to use simultaneously. You can also drag and drop files, images and videos onto supported apps.
The Huawei Mate Xs is priced at an eye-watering €2,499 (RM 11,330) its availability is slated for March this year.
