This is quite possibly the cutest-looking Nintendo Switch I’ve ever seen

For everything that matters in tech

So yes, if you've kept up with the latest gaming news, the first Animal Crossing game on consoles in a number of years, New Horizons, is set to arrive on the 13th of March 2020. Nintendo is rolling out a special edition of the console to commemorate the occasion, but it's worth noting that the custom-looking Switch won't be bundled with the new game—instead, that will cost you US$59.99 (about RM245).

Either way, it's certainly one of the nicest-looking custom Switch consoles that I've seen in awhile. There was also the Pokemon/Pikachu-themed Switch which was a little too bright and in-your-face for my liking, but the Animal Crossing-themed version just looks good. Nintendo says that there are "unique" Joy-Con controllers, a custom design on the back (which looks really, really nice), and a special Nintendo Switch dock.

It will be priced at US$299.99 (about RM1,225), the same as the retail price for the standard Nintendo Switch. However, we aren't sure if the themed Switch is a limited stock release, or if it's only available for a limited amount of time.

If you're in the U.S., you won't be able to purchase the Joy-Cons or the dock separately. You will, however, have the option to purchase the "New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case & Screen protector" separately. Meanwhile, users have noticed that the Nintendo Japan store has listings for the standalone dock as well as the pastel coloured Joy-Cons, as well.

The Joy-Cons will go for about RM309 in Japan, while the standalone dock will be priced at around RM247. Pre-orders for the Animal Crossing-themed Switch will begin soon, with the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game to be available on March 20, 2020. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the custom Switch will be available in the Malaysian region anytime soon, which is actually a shame.

Still, one can hope.
