Travellers to and from Malaysia can no longer go through automated gates at all entry points across the country as the Immigration Department has temporarily suspended the use of autogates and e-gate systems. This was carried out as a preventive measure to limit the spread of the Covid-19 infection.
The suspension will affect the Malaysian autogates and foreign visitors e-gates, as well as the Malaysian Automated Clearance System (MACS) in Johor. This basically means that you’ll now need to allocate more time to get through each clearance points at the airport and other entry points when you’re travelling, so be sure to get to the airport earlier.

That said, the director-general of the Immigration Department, Khairul Dzaimee, assured that this will not affect tourist arrivals. He also said that the Immigration Department will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Health on the issue.
As of today, there are 50 positive cases of Covid-19 in Malaysia, with 14 new ones announced just yesterday.
