KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 — Batu MP P. Prabakaran said today he has been called in by Sentul police for questioning, with his aide explaining it was for allegedly violating the movement control order (MCO).

On his Facebook page, Prabakaran said he was on his way to the Sentul district police headquarters (IPD) this afternoon.

“Not sure if this is an arrest,” he wrote.

However, his aide Arvind Raj said Prabakaran was detained at the Selayang wholesale market, when he went to check on the surrounding areas which fall under his parliamentary constituency, to assess the welfare of the people there.

This comes as Putrajaya announced its sixth enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at Pusat Bandar Utara in Kuala Lumpur and the areas surrounding the Selayang wholesale market otherwise known as the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market.

Later in a live Facebook video posted just before 6pm, Prabakaran asserted that he was kicked out of a Social Welfare Department (JKM) meeting by the Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Edmund Santhara Kumar, but never actually mentioning his name.

“Just now I gave suggestions like why Taman Wilayah is not closed, since there are many foreigners there, but the deputy Federal Territories minister kicked me out and now they are asking me to go back,” he said in the video as several policemen arrived requesting his presence at the JKM post.

“I don’t want to say names, but they did kick me out from the war-room and now they are asking for me to come back, I am not sure why, so I will wait here,” he said, adding how the earlier incident of him being escorted by police was them merely ushering him out of the meeting.

“I am not sure what is happening, the people are in danger, don’t play politics, ask him not to talk politics when I am getting complaints there are no kitchen supplies, no milk for the children, even for female needs,” he said, referring to Edmund.

“So, I went to the war room, and I wanted to know when JKM will arrive; when JKM will start handing out assistance, there are many who have no food inside, but I was kicked out,” he said.

The MP stressed how many of those within areas under the EMCO were not informed of the lockdown and were not able to stock up on supplies.

“No one was ready, that is why JKM needs to be on standby here and take account of what their needs are,” he added.

Towards the end of the video, Prabakaran joked of how he might be arrested by police later tonight: “Maybe I might get arrested today; I only want to help the people.
