Local telcos will continue to provide free 1GB data daily for their customers during the extended conditional movement control order (CMCO). The ongoing perk will be offered until notified otherwise.

Maxis, Celcom, Digi, U Mobile, and Yoodo have all confirmed that their prepaid and postpaid customers will be able to continue enjoying the freebie, as well as free calls to the national and state-level Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) hotlines.

Most telcos offer the free daily data only during a specific period of the day, and some also require you to redeem it daily. Here’s a recap of how the five telcos offer their free internet.

The free daily internet was announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during the reveal of the Prihatin Economic Stimulus Package on 27 March 2020, with the offer officially starting on 1 April 2020. For some telcos, this is in addition to other bonuses and initiatives that they had already launched when the MCO first began on 18 March 2020.

Telcos were also subsequently reminded to ensure that the free internet package offered to consumers is of high quality.
