This week we preview the 2020 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) regular season, the league's eighth. Though the league was originally due to start regular season play on the weekend of April 18-19, training camps and the regular season schedule were delayed in March due to the Coronavirus pandemic, just one week into the teams' preseason training. The league recently extended its training camp moratorium through May 15 and new Commissioner Lisa Baird has said that she does not expect league play to start before the end of June at the earliest; its start date, scope of the regular season and whether fans can attend are all still to be determined. A league announcement on April 24 stated: "All applicable stay at home orders will be adhered to as the 2020 schedule is determined, and the league will also include an appropriate preseason training period. All clubs will work with the NWSL medical task force and their team doctors to provide safe guidelines for players returning to market on a case-by-case basis."
