Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he won't change his opinion on David Luiz after the Brazilian's dismal display against Manchester City on Wednesday.

A first-half substitute, Luiz gave away a goal and was sent off in the space of 25 minutes as the Gunners lost 3-0 to Pep Guardiola's side.

Arteta said prior to the game that he would like to see the Brazilian stay at the club after his contract expires this month, and that hasn't changed.

"He is someone that is very honest and straight forward," said Arteta.

"My opinion on David Luiz hasn't changed. It won't change because he had a difficult performance tonight."

Arteta added: "There was a reason why I didn't select him from the start.

"He had to play because Pablo got injured. He tried but it didn't work out for the team."
