Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was delighted for Ruben Loftus-Cheek after his first appearance in 13 months.
The 24-year-old started in midfield as the Blues defeated Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park on Sunday.
Asked about Loftus-Cheek after the game, Lampard said: "I am delighted for Ruben to be back in the fold.
"He got in the team on his own merit with working well. In training, he has looked good and strong.
"We need to give him time to adapt. I thought it was a game for his physicality. There is more to come."
