Brighton boss Graham Potter hailed debutant Tariq Lamptey for their 0-0 draw with Leicester City last night.

Lamptey needed stitches to his mouth after an aerial collision midway through the first half.

He went on to produce a highly promising 90 minutes as Albion drew 0-0 at third-placed Leicester City.

Albion boss Potter said: “I think you could see his attributes. He has got great speed.

“I thought he competed well, showed great courage because he took a heavy smash to the face and needed stitches.

“He had a big hole on the side of his face.

“But he played against some good players out there and I thought he was magnificent."

Potter said it was “touch and go" as to whether the former Chelsea youngster would have to be replaced during the first half.

But he added: “It was a great debut for him. I'm pleased for him."
