Former AC Milan chief Ariedo Braida says Stefano Pioli should stay.

The coach is expected to be replaced by Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season, despite the impressive form Milan are currently displaying.

Braida told Radio Rai: "Honestly I have to say that he is doing very well, not simply well. Taking a foreign coach who does not know our football, despite having done good things in Germany, can be a risk.

"He is already arriving, but in all this I would keep Pioli, who knows our football very well. After an initial period he did great things, I would keep Pioli."

Asked if the two could live together, Braida continued: "They are not simple things. This is a difficult question. I would not do it, I would keep Pioli without contrasting the two. If things were not going well then only the coach would pay.

"When you are at AC Milan, if you can stay there and if I were him, I would do everything to stay, without looking for other solutions. Some other clubs might think of him. Football is strange."
