West Ham United boss David Moyes admits he was shocked by Watford's sacking of Nigel Pearson.
Pearson was axed after Watford's defeat to the Hammers on Friday night.
“I was amazed that Watford have done what they've done," said the West Ham manager.
“If Watford had stayed up – and I think they've still got a great chance – he could easily have been recommended for manager of the year, with the position they were in when he took over.
“So I don't know what else they expected. He took over in a real difficult position, six points adrift at the time, and to get them to a position of safety, I find that really tough on him."
