Rennes chief Florian Maurice says they're not giving up on signing Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu.
Salisu is also interesting Southampton and Everton - with Rennes president Nicolas Holveck stating last week he had been informed the Ghanaian youngster wanted to move to England.
Holveck stated: "We have done everything to convince him, as a priority, he would like to go to the Premier League."
But Maurice told RMC: “We need to strengthen ourselves in this position.
"We have started proceedings for Salisu. We are always in contact with the club and the player's entourage. We remain active on this issue."
