Craig Shakespeare rejected the chance to replace Nigel Pearson as caretaker manager at Watford, it has been revealed.

Instead, coaches Hayden Mullins and Graham Stack to take over the final matches of the campaign.

Pearson was sacked on Sunday after Friday's disappointing defeat to West Ham United.

The Daily Mail says Watford were keen on Pearson's assistant Shakespeare on taking the reins until the end of the season - but the former Leicester boss stayed loyal and has also left Vicarage Road.
