These days when we tune into the Health Director-General’s updates, we hear reports of several new clusters and it is, of course, very worrying.

In Dr Noor Hisham’s latest update (23rd July), a reporter was very concerned with the number of active clusters in Sarawak, so she asked Dr Noor Hisham if they will be implementing the EMCO again.

He responded and said that as of now, the clusters are under control and the ministry is currently improving their contact tracing measures. He adds,

“But if there is a need, EMCO will be implemented in a specific area. As of now, we’re still able to control it.”

He also mentioned that they are conducting contact tracing at the locality of the clusters now and if anyone who has come in contact with a Covid-19 positive person, they will be tested. If they are positive, they will be sent to the hospital but if they test negative, then they will be quarantined.

As of 23rd July 2020, there are 19 actives clusters nationwide and 15 of them were detected from 1st July onwards.

In the 23rd July MoH statement, they deduced that the upward trend of daily cases and the emergence of new clusters is probably because of people are not following the SOPs and the government’s advise any longer. This is illustrated in the following graph.

The number of users (in blue) for MySejahtera keeps increasing day by day but the number of check-ins (in orange) is showing a downward trend.

At the end of the day, we are all currently still facing a pandemic and with one wrong move, many of our lives will be jeopardised. So, please abide by the rules and SOPs set by the government to not endanger ourselves or our loved ones.
