Former Manchester City midfielder Gelson Fernandes has recalled being blocked from joining Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund.
Now 33, Gelson has just announced his retirement.
And he recalled: "I don't know if it was Klopp directly, but Dortmund called in August 2008 and wanted to loam me from Manchester City.
"They didn't have much money at the time. Manchester City didn't want to do that.
"Too bad, three years later Dortmund was champion."
