Newcastle United may have to make summer transfer plans with the idea of Mike Ashley still being owner of the club.
The Magpies had been hoping their takeover by a Saudi-backed consortium would be completed before the transfer window.
However, delays with the approval process mean Ashley may still be owner when it is time to sign players, per the Mirror.
The Premier League are siding with TV rights holder beIN Sports in a row with the Saudi government, which is derailing the deal.
It is unclear if and when the Premier League will approve the Newcastle takeover, which means manager Steve Bruce and owner Ashley are the ones who will determine summer transfer targets and signings.
