Kota Kinabalu:
A type of fighting fish found in Sabah’s Crocker Range area has been identified as a new species. This discovery was recently published in Zootaxa, a peer-reviewed scientific journal for animal taxonomists. Nur Syafiqah Shamsul Kamal, a research officer from the Sabah Forestry Department, working in collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS) and local NGO Forever Sabah, described this new species of fighting fish as Betta nuluhon - ‘nuluhon’ meaning ‘hill’ in Dusun.
