Chelsea have made an enquiry with Rennes over goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Blues head of goalkeeping Christophe Lollichon publicly vouched for the Frenchman when speaking to Le Parisien last week.

Rennes are currently in discussions with Chelsea over a loan deal for Fiyako Tomori.

And the Daily Mail says Chelsea have brought up the possibility of signing their Senegal international goalkeeper.

Frank Lampard wants a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga but is being forced to spend shrewdly after big money deals for Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

28-year-old Mendy is a cheaper alternative, and showed his pedigree last season leading Rennes to a top-four finish in Ligue 1.
