Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan believes the Saudi-backed takeover bid for Newcastle United can be revived.
Jordan, who has predicted Mike Ashley is now a willing seller, thinks the deal can be resurrected.
Asked whether he thought the deal was dead he told the Evening Chronicle: "I don't think so. It's interesting that Mike immediately put a statement out because what is being briefed to the press now and is coming out is that Mike tried to change the deal, he tried to ramp the deal up and get a bit more money out of them. That's not been said before now.
"Newcastle fans are up in arms - and rightly so to some extent - but the challenge I have is that if the EPL are exceeding their reach and remit.
"We have three things on the table. The regime (Saudi) and their human rights, we have got the piracy issue and the nation-state control. The piracy issue is a real live issue, the human rights issue - well, this country deals with Saudi Arabia so we can't say football deals to a higher standard.
"I don't understand how a deal breaks down when the buyer and seller are in accord and the Premier League seem - in the eyes of the Newcastle fans - to be acting out of a sense of blocking it because they don't want it and maintaing the status quo.
"We must also remember that if Sheikh Mansour tried to buy Man City now or the Glazers tried to buy Manchester United now there'd be more resistance from the Premier League."
