Former Willem II assistant coach Reinier Robbemond admits he urged PSV Eindhoven to sign Kostas Tsimikas.

The Greek left-back left Olympiacos for Liverpool last week.

Robbemond worked with Tsimikas at Willem II and later recommended him to PSV when former coach Mark van Bommel's No2.

He recalled: "When Angeliño returned from PSV to Manchester City, I informed the scouting team about Tsimikas.

"I thought he was a great fit for the game that Van Bommel wanted to play, he could have taken over the role of Angeliño very successfully.

"But not everyone had the same opinion, that was a shame for us."
