Arsenal fought off a late push from PSG to secure the commitment of Lille defender Gabriel, it has been revealed.
France Football says the Gunners are wrapping up a deal for the Brazilian this week - but not before PSG made an attempt to wreck the transfer.
PSG chief Leonardo made a personal intervention in order to convince Gabriel to remain in France.
Leonardo urged Gabriel not to sign anything with Arsenal before he had sat down with him.
But in the end, Leonardo's approach failed to convince the player and he is now finalising his switch to London.
