Everton are in talks for Atletico Madrid right-back Santiago Arias.
The Daily Mail says Arias, a Colombia international who played against England at the 2018 World Cup, is known to Everton's director of football Marcel Brands, who signed him for PSV Eindhoven in July 2013.
Everton have been looking to sign high-class competition for Seamus Coleman for a number of years and last season had Djibril Sidibe, on loan from Monaco, as the club captain's cover.
Jonjoe Kenny, the former England Under-21 international, has returned to the club following a season with Schalke and Everton are planning for him to be a part of their squad for the new campaign but that has not stopped them moving for Arias.
There is no indication at present in terms of how much Arias will cost but talks between Atletico and Everton have advanced and the 28-year-old is in line to move to Merseyside.
