Liverpool have made a formal approach to Bayern Munich for Thiago Alcantara.

BILD says Liverpool have made their first official contact with Bayern over signing Thiago.

With the player intent on leaving and in the final year of his contract, Liverpool have seized the opportunity to enquire about the midfielder.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen to get the deal over the line but the two clubs are still far apart in their valuation of the player.

Bayern are demanding £30million for the player who they signed from the Nou Camp for £21.6m in the summer of 2013, but will allow him to leave should an offer of £27m be made for him.
