Local Greek police have issued a statement over reports of Manchester United captain Harry Maguire being arrested whilst on holiday in Mykonos.
After being knocked out of the Europa League in the semi-finals against Sevilla last week, the England international has headed to the Greek island to relax before the new Premier League season.
But Greek newspaper Proto Thema report that he was detained after an incident outside a bar on Thursday night and local police have now issued a statement.
"The soccer player was verbally abusive to an officer and then hit him," a police official said.
"The three were resisting when brought to the Mykonos police station."
It is claimed that police were called by locals at 00:30 to report that two groups of Englishmen were fighting outside a bar on the island.
They allege that three men from the group attacked police verbally and physically when they intervened.
The trio, which included Maguire, were then reportedly taken to Mykonos police station where it is alleged the confrontation with two officers continued leading to their arrests.
