Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce says he'll only sign a new striker if he is better than what he has.
At the end of last term, Bruce himself suggested a new centre-forward was likely to be on his list in the 2020 summer transfer window.
But so far efforts have been focused on signing Jeff Hendrick from Burnley on a free transfer and searches for full-backs.
He told the Evening Chronicle from their York training camp: "I know it's a pivotal part of Newcastle's folklore.
"If we can improve in any position, then I'll try, but certainly the forward areas are always the most mouth-watering ones, and the ones which get reported on."
