Several women non-governmental organisations (NGO) are making a collective call on political parties to field more female candidates in the coming 16th State Election.

Sabah IKSnita President Datuk Dg Khatijah Datu Bachtiyal said women should be given the same opportunities as male politicians, especially in order to achieve the 30 per cent target of women’s participation in the decision-making level. 

“We urge Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan), Umno, Bersatu, PKR, Upko, DAP, Amanah, PCS, PBS, Star, PBRS, LDP, SAPP, PAS and Usno to account 30 per cent of the 73 seats for women.
