497 Sarawak cops assisting in polls

Kota Kinabalu: Some 497 Sarawak police officers and personnel were flown in Thursday with the help of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) to assist in today’s 16th State election.

State Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali (pic) said full assistance from the Sarawak contingent was a mix of General Operations Force (PGA), among others.

“The current number of personnel and officers quarantined now is 284 and although there is no addition the large number has demanded us to call for support from other contingents,” he said in a press conference held in IPK, Friday.
