Southampton are pursuing a move for Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman.
Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl wants to strengthen the team, and has identified Veerman as someone who could play a key role this season.
According to Voetbal International, Southampton scouts were at the Heerenveen vs VVV-Venlo game, which Heerenveen won 1-0.
The 21-year-old would not mind the move, but did pick up a slight injury this weekend.
It is unclear if that would impact a potential move.
So long as Southampton make a decent offer, it is unlikely the Dutch club would stand in the player's way of moving to the Premier League.
